The Arc of Illinois‘ Family-to-Family Health Information Center and Illinois Life Span Program (ILS) will host “Crisis Alternative Response Evanston (CARE) Team, City of Evanston” on Dec. 9 from 12 to 1 p.m.
Learn about the CARE Team with Jeron Dorsey, Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Evanston.
Evanston’s CARE Team is an alternative response program designed to reduce reliance on law enforcement for behavioral health and social service calls. Jeron has been instrumental in building partnerships and creating safer, more compassionate responses to individuals in crisis.
This session will provide information about CARE and the team’s role in approaching and serving individuals in crisis, including:
- Situations involving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)
- Family calls regarding children or adults with IDD
- Lost or confused individuals
- Community member reports of unusual behavior
The webinar is free and open to any community members who want to understand the CARE Team’s role in helping people in crisis.
