Interim Relief Program
Care coordination is the foundation of the Interim Relief Program.
Children who have eligible mental health or behavioral disorders are enrolled in the Interim Relief Program. This program supports the need for Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility level of care.
The criteria for Interim Relief services include:
- Under the age of 21
- Enrolled in Illinois Medicaid
- Not currently in the custody or guardianship of a state or federal agency
- Received a Letter of Medical Necessity from a physician detailing the need for Interim Relief Services
- Completed the Interim Relief Services Application and Consent form
The Division of Specialized Care for Children operates this program on behalf of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS).
