Tourette Camp USA in Ingleside

Weeklong camp to give kids with Tourette syndrome ages 7 to 16 years old an unforgettable life-changing experience

Join the Tourette Syndrome Camp Organization (TSCO) for Tourette Syndrome Camp USA from June 22 to 28 at YMCA Camp Duncan in Ingleside.

The overnight camp is for children and youth ages 7 to 16 whose primary diagnosis is Tourette syndrome (TS), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and, to a lesser degree, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Campers can enjoy:

• Meeting other kids who share similar experiences
• Experiencing an environment where their tics are accepted
• Exploring coping mechanisms in a positive and safe environment
• Swimming, boating, hiking and more

Campers who are 16 can participate in the Counselor in Training Program (CIT). These campers will receive leadership opportunities to show that they would be a good fit as a counselor next year.

TSCO is not a therapeutic program. The TS camp program runs concurrently with a traditional YMCA camp week.

Campers must be able to handle routine daily living skills (e.g., dressing, self-hygiene) and have the ability to function within a group setting. Camp staff provide general supervision and as much one-on-one mentoring as the situation permits.

TSCO provides in-services to all Camp Duncan counselors. It also includes volunteer counselors with TS or experience dealing with TS.

The cost is $775 per camper. Scholarships are available based on need. Please see the financial scholarship application for more details.
