The Champaign County Transition Planning Committee will host “Navigating Adult Disability Services: Tips, Tricks and Lived Experiences” on April 1 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Are you supporting a teenager with intellectual or developmental disabilities who is preparing for adulthood?
Join this in-person event featuring a panel of parents and siblings of loved ones with developmental disabilities. Panelists will share tips, tricks and lived experiences of helping their loved ones navigate their transition to adulthood.
They will also discuss:
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
- Medicaid and Medicare
- Guardianship and alternatives
- Waiver services
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of:
- The different services
- When and how to apply for them
- How to prepare your loved one for independence and success
The event is free. Light refreshments will be served.
