SUMMARY:"Wings for All" Event at Chicago O'Hare Airport
DESCRIPTION:A free opportunity for individuals with autism and other intell
 ectual disabilities and their families to explore the airport and practice
  the boarding process alongside airline staff\n\nJoin The Arc for the Wing
 s for Autism/Wings for All (Wings) program on Aug. 16 beginning at 9 a.m.\
 n\nPeople with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilitie
 s (IDD) often experience stress and other barriers when flying. Airports 
 and airplanes can be overwhelming due to unexpected lights\, noises\, Tran
 sportation Security Administration (TSA) security screening and crowds.\n\
 nAirport and airline staff may not know how to handle accommodations or un
 expected behaviors when a flier is overwhelmed or nervous about navigating
  the air travel process.\n\nWings brings families and aviation professiona
 ls together to explore the airport\, rehearse the flight process and learn
  from each other.\n\nParticipants will experience:\n\n 	Checking in and re
 ceiving boarding passes\n 	Passing through the TSA security checkpoint\n 	
 Waiting in the boarding area\n 	Boarding an aircraft (the plane does not t
 ake off)\n\nParticipants will also enjoy a small reception featuring light
  snacks and refreshments.\n\nChapters of The Arc\, local partners and airp
 ort/airline/TSA personnel work collaboratively to design and carry out eac
