 n II and STAR NET Region VI for "In the Heat of the Moment" on Jan. 9 from
  4 to 6 p.m.\n\nChildren’s behavior can escalate quickly. Your feelings 
 about that escalation can erupt just as fast. Even if a child has a diagno
 sis or an Individualized Education Program (IEP)\, sometimes\, in the heat
  of the moment\, your response can escalate the child’s challenging beha
 vior.\n\nYou can only help a child to de-escalate when you are in control 
 of yourself\, have a relationship with the child and believe in that child
 .\n\nPresenter Barbara Kaiser is an author\, teacher and professional with
  over 30 years experience in early childhood education. She will help part
 icipants understand the ins and outs of challenging behavior and strategie
 s to address it without losing your cool.\n\nBarbara will walk participant
 s through:\n\n 	Recognizing the importance of self-regulation\n 	Identifyi
 ng when children feel good about themselves and when they are starting to 
 fall out of that competent state\n 	Understanding the stages of behavior e
