SUMMARY:TechTigers STEM Exploration Program at the National Technical Insti
 tute for the Deaf in New York
DESCRIPTION:A week-long summer program for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
  entering seventh through ninth grade who are interested in science\, tech
 nology\, engineering and math\n\nRochester Institute of Technology (RIT)'s
  National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) will host the week-long 
 "TechTigers" program from July 26 to 31.\n\nTechTigers gives middle school
  students a head start in thinking about a career in science\, technology\
 , engineering\, and math (STEM).\n\nDeaf or hard-of-hearing students enter
 ing seventh through ninth grade will experience being surrounded by STEM\,
  staying in RIT college residence halls and having fun!\n\nTechTigers will
  explore classroom and hands-on activities such as:\n\n 	Building a high-t
 ech gadget\n 	Learning the basics of web design\n 	Conducting experiments 
 in a state-of-the-art lab\n 	Discovering what types of careers you may be 
 interested in\n\nStudents will also participate in supervised group social
  activities\, including:\n\n 	Socializing and playing games\n 	Enjoying in
 door and outdoor recreational activities\n 	Visiting an amusement park\n 	
 Learning what it’s like to be a student at RIT/NTID\n 	Making new friend
 s\n\nOn the last day of the program\, campers will present the results of 
 their activities. Parents will also receive information on steps to take d
 uring high school to help students plan and prepare for college.\n\nThe Te
 chTigers program is $850 and covers room\, board and all activities. Limit
 ed financial aid is available for students who demonstrate financial need.
