DESCRIPTION:Learn how self-determination can lead to independence\, problem
  solving and self-advocacy at this free workshop for youth ages 14 to 18 w
 ith hearing loss\n\nKids with hearing loss sometimes miss incidental infor
 mation that is vital to their growth and development.\n\nJoin Southern Ill
 inois University Edwardsville's Office for Accessible Campus Community &am
 p\; Equitable Student Support (ACCESS) Deaf Services for "Session 1 - Self
 -Determination Workshop for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Youth" on Sept. 7 fro
 m 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.\n\nYouth will enjoy activities\, presentations and gro
 up interaction aimed at boosting self-esteem and self-determination.\n\nAc
 tivities will focus on understanding self-determination and how it can emp
 ower:\n\n 	Independence\n 	Problem solving\n 	Self-advocacy\n\nThe worksho
 p is for youth ages 14 to 18. All activities will be accessible\, and all 
 communication modes are welcome. Class is taught in sign language. Interpr
 eters will be available.\n\nSee the "Self Determination Workshop for Deaf 
 and Hard-of-Hearing Youth" flyer for more details.\n\nThe workshop fee is 
 $25.\n\nRegister for the Self-Determination Workshop - Session 1. This cou
 rse will be on the SIUE campus. Parking is free. Workshop attendees will r
 eceive the final location the week before the course date.\n\nSession 2 of
  the "Self-Determination Workshop for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Youth" will
  be on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. You do not have to attend the first s
 ession to attend session 2.
