DESCRIPTION:Free training for families\, healthcare providers and individua
 ls with mental illness\n\nJoin the McLean County Health Department for Men
 tal Health First Aid training on Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.\n\nMental H
 ealth First Aid (MHFA) is an eight-hour training that provides individuals
  with the tools to identify when someone may be struggling with a mental h
 ealth or substance misuse problem. The training is open to the public.\n\n
 Studies show the program reduces social distance created by negative attit
 udes and perceptions of individuals with mental illness.\n\nThe training w
 ill help participants grow their knowledge of the signs\, symptoms and ris
 k factors of mental illnesses and addictions as well as:\n\n 	Identify mul
 tiple types of professional and self-help resources for individuals with a
  mental illness or addiction\n 	Increase their confidence and likelihood o
 f helping an individual in distress\n 	Learn how to increase mental wellne
 ss themselves\n\nThe cost is $12 for McLean County residents and $30 for n
 on-residents.  The cost includes a manual and course materials\, snacks a
