SUMMARY:20th Annual Illinois Statewide Transition Conference in Springfield
DESCRIPTION:The "Stepping Stones of Transition" conference shares services 
 and resources to prepare youth and young adults with special healthcare ne
 eds and other disabilities for success in adulthood.\nThe 2025 Illinois St
 atewide Transition Conference\, titled "Stepping Stones of Transition\," w
 ill take place in person on Oct. 30-31. The conference is at the Crowne Pl
 aza Convention Center\, 3000 S. Dirksen Parkway\, in Springfield.\nIt will
  highlight the opportunities and resources available for youth and young a
 dults with disabilities as they transition to adulthood.\n"Stepping Stones
  of Transition" is for youth\, parents\, caregivers\, vocational professio
 nals\, healthcare professionals\, educators and others who work with youth
  and young adults with disabilities. Youth will learn how to plan for thei
 r future\, including:\n\nWhat happens after I leave high school?\nHow do I
  sort through the maze of resources?\nWhat steps can I take now to prepare
  for upcoming changes?\nWhat skills are important for me to develop?\n\nPa
 rticipants can learn about the importance of disability acceptance\, aware
 ness and inclusion from keynote speaker Taylor Sweeting. The conference al
 so includes sessions on:\n\nArtificial intelligence (AI) in transition\nSe
 lf-advocacy\nEmployment\nFuture and financial planning\nPost-secondary edu

 n Spanish\n\nThe Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) helps sp
 onsor the conference and serves on its steering committee.\nDSCC may be ab
 le to fund the conference-related expenses for DSCC participants and their
  families\, caregivers\, nurses and/or personal attendants. These expenses
  include the cost of the hotel and transportation. DSCC participants can s
 ign up online and get more information at:\n\nDSCC transition conference r

 in Spanish\n\nThe deadline for DSCC families to sign up is Oct. 3. \nThe

 ence Steering Committee offers a scholarship program to help youth with di
 sabilities and their families attend the conference. The scholarship is op
 en to:\n\n\n\n\nIndividuals with disabilities\n\n\n\nImmediate family memb
 ers of a person with a disability\n\n\n\nGuardians for a person with a dis
